Currently, there are countless boycotts around the country and the world established to protest companies that support oppressive regimes, unjust actions or general disregard for norms or laws. Obviously, it’s beyond the scope of B4D to maintain the status of all the boycotts undertaken, but we will attempt to highlight a few. If you’re interested in where the word “boycott” came from, here’s a short write up.
Jimmy Kimmel
In September, 2025, the Jimmy Kimmel Live! show was suspended by ABC ‘s parent Disney because of Kimmel’s comments about Charlie Kirk that Disney deemed “Ill-timed and thus insensitive”. Apparently, Trump deemed them offensive, leading to pressure on Disney by the FCC to revoke ABC’s broadcast license.
This caused a boycott of Disney+ and Hulu that resulted in about 4 million subscribers, over and above the typical “churn rate” (monthly cancellations). This cost Disney+ $ billions and they returned the show to the air within a week.
Spotify
Spotify has been accused of underpaying musicians for years and, more recently, has supported military technology companies. These actions that have prompted calls for a boycott. However, more recently, the company has been running recruitment ads for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). With the backlash against ICE agents’ use of excessive force, the pressure to boycott Spotify has increased.
Spotify advertisements from ICE stopped at the end of 2025 but the company insisted this was due to a contractual agreement concluding, not a policy change. This could be similar to a company paying to settle a lawsuit but not admitting any guilt.
Other boycotts
Other companies that have been seen as prompting boycotts read like a who’s who of large corporations: Walmart, Starbucks, Home Depot and Target for rolling back their DEI programs; Coca Cola for support of Israel; Amazon for its monopolistic practices and treatment of workers. There are also many, many more boycotts of companies and countries due to dismal human rights records.
There are a number of sources for active boycotts and information you can use to decide which companies to boycott yourself.
Big Beautiful Boycott is a browser-based listing of mostly consumer products companies
Boycott Central, is dedicated to currently operating boycotts that are set up and managed by the organization Choose Democracy.
Boycat is an app and browser extension that provides listings of companies and products by location and multiple categories
Goods Unite Us has an app for iOS and Android that enables you to look up a company or product and it tells you which PACs the company and senior executives donated to. This information comes from the Federal Election Commission (FEC), the government organization charged with enforcing campaign finance laws1.
If you’re looking to how to determine if a company is supporting a politician or organization you don’t like (such as ICE) here’s an article that provides details on that.
You can also look up organizations related to a cause you support and find out which companies they recommend boycotting.
