The information we present on this website (What’s Happening, Get Information, Latest Articles, etc.) is designed to get folks up to speed on the crisis at hand. What’s really important is to learn the details about specific events so that your conversations are compelling.
There’s so much exaggerated, misstated chatter out there that truthful information with solid details really stands out in people’s minds. This is what they reshare with others.
We need to get the word out. This means:
- Have Conversations – talk with people you know or you meet about what’s going on – valid information, conclusive details about what’s working or who’s been affected. This can have a ripple effect, as these folks talk with others about what they learned from you, and those folks have conversations with their friends, and so on.
- Post and Share on Social Media – tell your followers and friends how you feel and share on the B4D Facebook page, BlueSky Social and X (Twitter). The net effect is similar to that described in “Have Conversations” above. When you share real information, the truth, it has a way of rising to the top in people’s minds.
- Give out ‘business cards’ – these have the B4D website info and a short description of what we’re about (available free). This can be especially effective when the person you’re talking with is frustrated because they want to help but don’t know what they can do.
- Reply / Comment – on others’ social media posts, to articles online, on letters to the editor. Same impact as above, your posts will stand out and generate more responses.
- Put up cards or flyers – stop by stores or other places that have bulletin boards with local businesses and information, distribute flyers. This may seen antiquated, but this mode of communication can have a really long life and be seen by many people.
- Put a sticker on your car – give others another place to get the B4D web information (available free). Same result as handing out cards, most of the folks who respond from this will be ready to do something.
The next step involves helping out at the local level. The ‘small things’ we do can be the most impactful, especially when the pain we’re alleviating is a result of this administration’s actions.
